I'd like to follow up with a quick anecdote regarding assumptions that walls, fences, etc., are within one's property. I am an architect and on a recent project in which we added on to an existing residence, the site walls were 6 feet over the property line and the existing pool that was built in 1956 was 3 feet over the property line. We survived the shock of this information only because we had a survey done promptly at the beginning of the design process.

The fact that this deal hasnt been investigated is mind boggling. This property isnt worth what these gentlemen out of Chicago paid for it. It is un-buildable!! I am a reputable national developer who has been in the business for 24 years and I wouldnt pay a dime for this property and this non-profit is doing a dis-service to the people. They are saving nothing and I would like to know if there is any tie with their leaders to the owners of the property. 12 million dollars could do much more good for our fine city then buying a worthless piece of land. Will someone please wake up and stop this insanity!!!
